David Hess, the founder of the Hess Law Group, has practiced in Southeastern Michigan for over 30 years, primarily in the areas of commercial and construction law; however, his interests and curiosity over the years have provided him with many great opportunities to gain experience in a wide range of domestic, estate and probate litigation as well as employment relation matters. It was in 2002 when David decided to launch his own firm, DM Hess & Associates. Shortly thereafter David’s brother Douglas Hess, the former General Director of Federal Taxes and Assistant General Tax Counsel of General Motors, retired and came on board to assist with the intricate tax (corporate and personal) and other business matters of the clients of DM Hess & Associates.

In 2005 Blair Hess (Douglas’s son) joined the firm as associate attorney, embarking on a second career in the legal field. Blair is a former US Marine, serving abroad as an Embassy Guard in Turkey and Kazakhstan. In 2006 Brandon Hess (David’s son) joined the firm, also as an associate attorney entering into the legal field as a second career. Brandon is a former consultant with Arthur Andersen, PricewaterhouseCoopers and IBM managing numerous business projects. Since their arrival, Blair and Brandon have quickly ingratiated themselves with the clients and proved they are integral parts of a growing practice. The addition of these two full time attorneys with diverse backgrounds allowed David to broaden the original scope of DM Hess & Associates. As of July 1, 2009 the firm rebranded to be the Hess Law Group.
